Tax Day...Doom Day for SOME!

Not very many people enjoy April 15th. If you were or are expecting a refund this year, chances are that you have already filed. Most people don't want to wait to get their money, however, if you owe I am sure you will be one of the last people to send in your information at midnight tonight.

I get a kick out the American's that simply decide not to file. What on earth is wrong with people? Don't they comprehend that we live in a great country, that provides us with a fantastic lifestyle. Paying taxes is no fun, but affords us the ability to keep living in a fantastic country. It provides us with luxuries that other countries only dream of. However, we wont have these luxuries if people to suck it up and pay their fair share. Now this isn't a debate on what is everyone's fair share, it is as simple as pay the bill and get over it!

We once had a family friend that simply didn't file for 10 years. When the IRS finally caught up with them, they offered a settlement of less then 50% of what they owed and the IRS accepted it. That really burns me up. If I wasn't a good upstanding citizen then I too would try this method, however, I believe I would have difficulty sleeping at night. So, I will do my part and file my taxes on time, pay the state of Colorado what I owe them, and be done with it.

Here is a list of 10 tips for tax day.

1. File online - The Internal Revenue Service offers a free filing program at irs.gov for taxpayers with adjusted gross incomes of less than $54,000. Also, some online preparers offer free editions for simple returns.
