Well, with that being said he suggested I try this restaurant The Fort, in Morrison Colorado. You only live once right? So, I agreed to try it. We ate there last week, before I headed back east. The place was absolutely perfect. We sat near the windows, so I could look out and see Denver all lit up. The ambiance was upbeat, energetic, but yet romantic and quaint. It was perfect for any and all occasions. The service was top notch! I believe our server's name was Thomas. He had worked at the Fort for 21 years and knew the menu and wine list like the back of his hand. It seemed only natural to ask for suggestions and trust him.

We started with the Historian's Platter which included Boudies, Rocky Mountain oysters, guacamole, bison tongue and stuffed jalapeƱos. All which were delicious! The only thing that I was actually familiar with was the guacamole, even the jalapeƱos had flair to them. They were pickled and stuffed with creamy homemade peanut butter. A combination that I didn't expect, but complimented each other extremely well. As for the rest of the of items on the platter, I hadn't ever even heard of them let alone tried any.
For the main course I then had the Fort's Game Plate. Thomas said it was their most popular dish, and also one that he recommended. The Game Plate was an Elk Chop, a Buffalo Filet and a grilled teriyaki Quail. Served with Fort (yukon gold roasted) potatoes and seasonal vegetable (green beans with pearl onions and garlic). I was in heaven. The elk and buffalo were seared rare and melted in my mouth. The quail had a soft and tenderness to that I had never experienced with a white meat. The veggies were still firm and crunchy.
For dessert, I had an espresso with a strawberry creme brulee. I am not much for flavored creme brulee, but this was made with fresh strawberries and was also highly recommended by Thomas. So, of course, I had to try it! The entire meal was one of the more amazing meals I have ever had in my life. Thomas did a fantastic job and his recommendations were right on the mark.
After dinner, we walked around the front of the fort to really take in the beautiful view of the Denver at night. Looking down over the city lights, taking in the fresh crisp air, and as an added bonus the company was top notch as well. Thanks Muscles. :) It was a fantastic evening. The next day, I was talking to my parents about my adventurous eating at the Fort. They both laughed, as they had been there many many years ago. It was also the first time my mother had eaten a rocky mountain oyster. It was pretty neat that I had pretty much the exact same experience that they did, only 30 years later. If any of you are out this way and are looking for an adventure, I highly recommend the Fort. I give it two thumbs up!
