Soccer...Check

On my mission to attend at one event from every sport, I wound up at the season opener of the Colorado Rapids. I was happy to be able to see David Beckham, (I wont lie, that was my motivation for attending this particular Rapids game). However, I quickly realized that David Beckham is good, but he might be a little over rated. Perhaps he had a bad game, but all in all I don't believe he deserves the hype that he has received since becoming part of the Galaxy. His passes weren't crisp, his crosses were too long or mis-directed, his defense was put to the test and on more then one occasion he was schooled. I might be a little harsh, by no means am I worthy critic and of course it is extremely easy to be a Monday morning quarterback, but still! All in all I do appreciate the fans he has brought to the game.

Like usual, my partner in crime Swallow and I head off to the game. The day was beautiful but you could tell the evening would be getting a little chilly. I bundle up in three layers and put my jacket in the car. Nothing like Denver weather, it could be 65 during the day and snowing at night. This was one of those nights where the temperature was dropping pretty quickly. Nothing better, then crisp chilly air to enjoy a major league soccer game. I probably should have informed Swallow that the flip flops aren't the best thing to wear when the temperature is suppose to drop 20 degrees during the game. Well you live and learn.

The Rapids whooped up on L.A. Galaxy 4-0. The energy throughout the crowd was upbeat yet intense. It eased up a little after first goal scored in the 45th minute but not by much.

Swallow made me giggle. Swallow didn't know anything about the sport. So, to keep herself busy, since I wasn't up for conversation, she went through the program picking out the best looking guys on the team. She picked out Christian Gomez as her favorite and possible future husband. He is relatively new to the Denver area and the Colorado Rapids, having only signed with the Rapids on February 8, 2008. Welcome aboard Christian.
