I was talking to my cousin Jiu, this past weekend. After reading my blog, she decided she too would give sTORI Telling a chance. She picked up copy of the book. She also said something to the effect that she simply can't put it down. Relating the story to my sister, she immediately responded that she was going to have to go buy the book. She was trying to wait until my friends were finished so that I could send it to her, but with all the rave reviews she can't wait any longer. Pretty funny, that my sister (queen of patience) can't wait. Way to go Tumbles.
Not being a huge fan of reading, I set a goal to read a book a week. Thankfully, I am still on target to read 52 books this year. I never thought I would be, but I am doing just fine and actually enjoying the process. Jiu suggested that give a review of each book that I have finished. I have also challenged her to give suggestions to get me out of my normal everyday reads. So as we face this challenge together, hopefully I will be able to give you all some good insight on books.
This past weekend, I read Iron Orchid by Stuart Woods. I am normally a huge fan of Stuart Woods, however, I was slightly disappointed in this book. Maybe my expectations are too high because I only read books with certain characters in them. This of course had a mixture of all my favorites, the first and only one that he has actually written like that. Usually it is one or possibly two of my favorite characters, not 5. Maybe I am so use to reading him that I expect him not to leave questions up in the air. This book however, was left to the readers imagination. If I knew it was going to be left up to the imagination, I could have easily stopped reading after the first 100 pages. The development was very good. He started with two different stories and slowly (but not too slowly) weaved them together to be one. As soon as the stories were woven together, I had a difficult time putting it down. The intensity and thrill of solving the murder was there, but the book also had a stupid aspect to it. It was as if the characters were made to be in fact STUPID. The crime could have easily been solved at least 3 times before page 300. He did begin to wrap some of the loose ends up, but it seems as though the ending (or so called ending) was pulled out of the sky.

I would recommend this book, if you are up for a intense leisure read. Sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? At some points in the book, I really did get my heart rate up and a little nervous as to what was going to happen next, but it wasn't his normal high quality books.
